FightLite® USA | Master FAQ & Technical Resource

GENERAL & BRAND

  • Where are FightLite® products manufactured?

Every FightLite® product is designed, engineered, and manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne, Florida, USA.

  • What is the difference between “FightLite” and “ARES Defense”?

FightLite® Industries is the current brand and division of ARES Defense Systems, Inc. We continue the legacy of innovation started by ARES, focusing on modular, high-performance small arms.

  • How do I find a local dealer?

You can purchase directly from our website and have the item shipped to any Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder in your area for transfer.

SCR® SERIES (SPORT CONFIGURABLE RIFLE)

  • Is the FightLite SCR® California legal?

Yes. The SCR® features a traditional sporter-style grip and no prohibited features, making it a “featureless” rifle that is legal in California, New York, and other restrictive states in its standard configuration.

  • What uppers are compatible with the SCR® lower?

The SCR® lower is designed to be compatible with most standard AR-15 pattern upper receivers. However, you must use the proprietary FightLite SCR® bolt carrier (included with the lower) to interface with the SCR®’s unique recoil system.

  • Can I change the stock on my SCR®?

The SCR® uses a proprietary recoil system housed in the stock. You can swap between different FightLite® stock options (such as Walnut, Laminate, or Synthetic), but it is not compatible with standard AR-15 buffer tubes or stocks.

  • What calibers does the SCR® support?

The SCR® supports common AR-15 calibers, including 5.56 NATO, .300 Blackout, and 6.5 Grendel, depending on the upper receiver and bolt head used.

MCR® SERIES (MISSION CONFIGURABLE RIFLE)

  • How does the MCR® dual-feed system work?

The MCR® is a patented system that allows the operator to feed the rifle using either standard AR-15/M16 box magazines or M27 linked belts. Switching between the two does not require tools or disassembly.

  • Is the MCR® upper compatible with a standard AR-15 lower?

Yes. The MCR® upper receiver is designed to drop onto any MIL-SPEC AR-15 or M16 lower receiver. Note that a heavier buffer or the included spring may be required for optimal timing.

  • How fast can I change the barrel on an MCR®?

The MCR® features a quick-change barrel system that allows for barrel swaps in seconds. This is critical for maintaining fire superiority and preventing overheating during high-volume sessions.

  • Does the MCR® use a gas-piston or direct impingement system?

The MCR® utilizes a robust short-stroke gas piston system for increased reliability and cleaner operation, especially when used with a suppressor or in belt-fed mode.

HERRING® MODEL 2024

  • What makes the Herring® Model 2024 unique?

The Herring® is a modern lever-action rifle that utilizes AR-15 magazines and uppers. It brings the speed and ergonomics of a modern platform to the classic lever-gun action.

  • Can I use my existing AR-15 uppers on a Herring® lower?

Yes, the Herring® lower is designed to interface with standard AR-15 upper receivers, allowing you to change calibers and configurations easily.

TECHNICAL & COMPLIANCE

  • Do I need an FFL for uppers and parts?

No. Upper receivers, bolts, stocks, and accessories are not regulated firearms and can be shipped directly to your home. Only the lower receiver (the serialized part) requires an FFL transfer.

  • What is the “Malice” referenced in your catalog?

The Malice® is a specialized high-performance variant within our tactical line, optimized for extreme durability and specific mission requirements.

  • How should I maintain my FightLite® firearm?

We recommend cleaning after every range session using high-quality solvents and lubricants. Specific attention should be paid to the gas piston in the MCR® and the recoil link in the SCR®.
